Christmas Leadership

"Leading the Way" is one of the five tasks of an exemplary leader according to James Kouzes and Barry Posner in The Leadership Challenge Planner.

As I think about this leadership component at Christmas time, I'm aware of how God is obviously the consummate leader. He "led the way," taking the initiative to "challenge the status quo." The status quo was bondage, darkness, and hopelessness. Yet, God was not willing that we should perish in our bondage, so He took the initiative - led the way - by sending His one and only Son to save us.

Not only did God lead the way, but He "encouraged our hearts" by sending Jesus to poor, common people like ... us. Plus, all of this is motivated by love.

As leaders, we must follow the example of God: Lead the way, challenge the status quo, and encourage the heart.

Hear the Christmas Story again... For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life (John 3:16).

Merry Christmas,
Pastor Dwight
